Praise For Museum Volunteers
The Natural Science Museum Research Centre held its annual Volunteers Awards last week. The function was to celebrate the graduation of volunteers and present them with certificates for completing a year’s work in the service of the centre.

Guy Redman, Deputy Head of Libraries and Heritage, praised the volunteers for their hard work and loyalty. “This volunteer programme is about you. You all are like sponges, soaking up all the information and experience that you can. It’s about taking in as much as possible and making your dreams come true.” Dimakatso Mavundla, of the Municipality’s Batho Pele Office, thanked the volunteers and wished them well.

Among the graduates was Cindy Govender, who has worked as a volunteer for the past 14 years. She received a special gift and in an emotional tribute to her colleagues said, “Thank you very much. There are no words to express my gratitude. “It has been a long journey, but now I have to move on. I wish everyone all the best and I hope these volunteers move on to bigger and greater things.” Lungani Mtembu won the Nicholas Ncwane Award for most dedicated and outstanding volunteer. He said, “I feel so amazed. I never thought I would get this award. We are all the best!”
