Multi-million rand water project for eNgonyameni residents
A R6 million water tap installation project to address the water
challenge in ward 84 is currently underway.
THE community of Esidweni Village at eNgonyameni, near uMlazi will finally have access to safe drinking water.

This follows the commencement of a R6 million water taps installation project to address the water challenge of ward 84. Residents will now be finally able to quench their thirst at the turn of a tap.

The project has also created about 40 jobs for locals. Previously, the community did not have sustainable water supply and used to depend on the City’s water tank supply system. Many community members had also opted to invest in Jojo tanks.

Councillor Bheki Phungula said this project is household based, meaning each family will have access to a running tap inside their yard. The water tap installation project commenced last year August and is expected to be completed by July this year. The contractor is currently installing infrastructure such as pipelines.

Councillor Phungula said the community is overjoyed about this project. “The feeling is mutual, I am also elated as it is my duty to ensure that all residents in this community have access to basic services,” he said.
