In a bid to improve on the standard of education in South Africa since the advent of democracy 20 years ago, eThekwini Municipality’s Local History Museum will host an Educators’ Conference at KwaMuhle Museum.

The South African School education system has undergone substantial transformation since the segregated education system, pre-1994. The transformation was in a bid to undo the racial ills of the past. Emphasis of the new system was geared towards producing a competent, dynamic, and technologically advanced learner. The process was to produce a learner who can explore entrepreneurial job opportunities rather than be an employment seeker.

The conference seeks to unpack the challenges and devise strategies that can be utilised to change the course of the education system.

The forum will have presentations from experts representing the Durban University of Technology, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Human Sciences Research Council and eThekwini Municipality. It will also explore the impact of changing roles in Government which inevitably results in changing officials and policies in the education system.

DETAILS OF THE CONFERENCE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

TIME: 8:30am - 13:30
