Women in Sport Seminar
The Municipality’s Sports and Recreation Department will host a Women in Sport Seminar aimed at equipping female athletes about issues that affect them and their progress in the sports fraternity.
Approximately 250 young athletes from around the Municipality will get an opportunity to hear from established athletes about their secret to success and how they maintain longevity in their chosen fields. Topics to be discussed include gender inequality, sports as a driver for social change, education vs sport and changing the narrative in the media space.
Speakers of the day will include SA Netball team player Precious Mthembu; Springbok Women’s Sevens player Zinhle Ndawonde; KZN Women's cricket captain Nondumiso Shangase and Women in Sport activist and TV personality Cynthia Tshaka. The programme will be facilitated by football analyst Amanda Dlamini.
The seminar is an initiative aimed at exposing young female athletes to opportunities available to them in the sports fraternity and how they can access these.
