Whetstone Library Renovations Complete

The community of Phoenix can now enjoy reading and learning in the newly, refurbished Whetstone library. The library had to undergo major renovations due to extensive, structural damages caused when the roof caved in during gale force winds, in 2012.

Due to the damage, library resources had to be moved to the Group Activities Room on the premises. The Whetstone Library is now fully operational and allows users free access. The library serves as a resource centre and caters to the various needs of scholars, tertiary students and residents of Whetstone and surrounding areas. The library offers various services to the public including loan of different material, free internet access, free Wi-Fi. Photocopying and printing facilities are also available. There are new books, audio-visuals and library material available.

The Municipality would like to thank the community of Phoenix for their patience while renovations were underway.

Members of the community are urged to utilise the library facilities and services offered. Community members who wish to become members of the library should visit the library together with their Identity Document and proof of address. Opening hours are:

Monday – Friday: 09h00 to 17h00
Saturdays: 08h30 to 12h30

The Whetstone Library can be contacted on 0313228770 or Email: whetstone.library@durban.gov.za
