Urgent Notice: Update on Protest Action on Major Roads
 
Due to protest action at some major roads, eThekwini Municipality urges all motorists to continue proceeding with caution.
Please note the following:
 
1. Electron Road: Law enforcement is currently dispersing a crowd of protesters
2. North Coast Road, Sea Cow Lake and Queen Nandi Road: Over one thousand protesters have blockaded the road. There are also burnt vehicles and over 100 vehicles have been stoned
3. North Coast Road/Riverside: There is a cleanup in progress. This road will be opened shortly
4. North Coast Road: There are reports of property damage and looting. Law enforcement is attending to the matter
5. Queen Nandi: Now open from North Coast Road to N2
6. N2 towards KwaMashu: Still closed
7. Newlands East/ Nandi Drive: Still closed
8. Nandi Drive/Quarry Heights: Still closed
9. North Coast Road/Nandi Drive: Still closed
10. M19/ Mount Batten Drive: Still closed
 
Please note that Metro Police members, Disaster Management and Operation Sukuma Sakhe/ Rapid Response officials are on the ground to collect information from protesting residents. City law enforcement is also on site to reroute traffic and to ensure the safety of motorists and residents.
