Umlazi Business Fair Ups The Ante
 
Businesses will receive valuable experience when eThekwini Municipality introduces new features at the upcoming Regional Business Fair, taking place on 13 – 15 May at KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre in Umlazi.
 
The features will not only help participants grow their businesses, but will also assist in building a culture of entrepreneurship among learners from grade 10 -12 as well as unemployed youth. This will enable young people to take a much bigger role in fighting the scourge of poverty and unemployment in the City.
 
“Regional Business Fairs are a vital platform where businesses sharpen their skills through business activities. Businesses also use the platform to access opportunities while being exposed to international trends,” said Mayor James Nxumalo
 
This year’s Fair comprises of influential and prominent speakers such as Deputy Minister of Department of Trade and Industry, Mzwandile Masina, and Deputy Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Professor Hlengiwe Mkhize. The speakers will touch on various topics such as manufacturing, black industrialization, construction, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development programmes for SMMEs and opportunities in the business sector.
 
Nxumalo said with such information, businesses will learn innovative ways of doing business using modern technology, resulting in economic and productivity growth in the South Region.
 
During the exhibition, various activities such as Master classes, Start Up & Go Youth Entrepreneurship, Construction Indaba will take place on site to allow entrepreneurs to develop business ideas and to create business relationships. This exercise will attract potential buyers and investors.
 
Participants in these seminars will be given a task to identify challenges facing business communities in order to create solutions to address these problems using modern technology.
 
They will also learn about catalytic projects that are taking place in the region and how small businesses can find business opportunities from these projects.
 
Dimension Data and Cisco will provide Wireless internet (WiFi) access to all attendees at the Fair. This will enable them to stay connected to their businesses, colleagues and friends on a high speed wireless internet connection.
 
Businesses and those who aspire to be entrepreneurs are encouraged to visit the Regional Business Fair at KwaMnyandu Shopping Centre in Umlazi.
