Substance Abuse Walk
The City’s Youth Development Office will be hosting a substance abuse walk under the theme “living democracy: free from drugs and alcohol abuse”. The March which is expected to be attended by Mayor Zandile Gumede and councilors will take place in KwaMashu on 24 April.

The event is meant to help build partnership among young people, the Municipality and law enforcement agencies.
Scores of young people from the Inanda Ntuzuma and KwaMashu and surrounding areas are expected to take part in the initiative accompanied by the police, by walking on Malandela Road to KwaMashu’s K-Cap.
The youth office is also appealing to young people especially leaners and the community to report any form of abuse and bullying taking place in their schools.
City’s Youth Development Office Manager Mndeni Mkhize said his office wanted to create awareness amongst the young people about the dangers of substance abuse, drugs, bullying, and sexual harassment. “As the Youth Office it is our mandate to priorities programmes that are going to help improves the lives of young people in our City.”
