Sand Pumping Operations in North Beach a Success; Operations Continuing On Other Beaches

EThekwini Municipality would like to inform residents that the sand pumping at North Beach has been a success with sufficient cubic meters of sand being achieved.

The success of the operation means locals and visitors can use North beach freely.

This comes after the Municipality announced the closure of portions of North Beach almost two weeks ago as well as Dairy Beach, Country Club and Battery Beach to allow for sand pumping operations.

Sand pumping operations are still currently underway with operation teams now moving to Dairy Beach to start the process. The public is reminded that during these operations, swimming and beach access will not be allowed in cordoned off areas due to sand pumping operations underway.

The City asks for the public’s patience during this process as it will ultimately result in an improved beach experience for all visitors.
As the sand pumping operations are still underway, beachgoers are encouraged to use alternative beaches nodes such as uShaka,

Addington, New, Wedge and Bay of Plenty which are accessible for the public to use.

ENDS.
