Refuse Collection Disruption In UMlazi Township

31 JULY 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The refuse removal service in Umlazi Township has been disrupted this week due to a group of people that have threatened contractors servicing the area.

The Municipality urges residents to keep all refuse within their property boundaries. Refuse bags can only be taken out when the collection trucks arrive. It is expected that refuse will be cleared from this weekend.

The City is working around the clock to resolve the situation and is engaging with all affected stakeholders to ensure that residents are not further inconvenienced.

Mayor James Nxumalo said the City will not allow business interests to disrupt the provision of services. “We want to assure all residents that this situation is receiving attention until the service is back to normal”, says Nxumalo.

The City’s leadership will on Monday, 03 July visit Umlazi to ensure that this matter is resolved.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents by the non-collection of refuse.
