Normal Waste Collection Operation Resumes In Umlazi

EThekwini Municipality is pleased to inform Umlazi residents that normal waste removal operations will resume tomorrow in Y (Philani Valley), U, Z, Malukazi, AA, BB, CC, D, B and C sections. Businesses will also be serviced tomorrow.

“I would like to thank all affected stakeholders for their co-operation and ability to resolve issues amicably, thus ensuring the community continues to enjoy uninterrupted service,” said Mayor James Nxumalo.

Mayor Nxumalo apologizes to Umlazi residents for the inconvenience experienced during this period and urges residents to bear with the waste collection teams as they try to deal with the backlog.

Waste removal contractors and municipal teams will work through-out the weekend. Arrangements have been made with Umlazi and Amanzimtoti transfer stations to be opened for the weekend as part of expediting this process.

A team of supervisors has been deployed in the area over the weekend to monitor waste collection.

It is hoped that the bulk of the waste will be collected by Monday, 17 August 2015.
