NEW BOOSTER PUMP UNDER CONSTRUCTION FOR THE SOUTH COAST PIPELINE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Residents are reminded that the Municipality will be closing its major water supply line to commission a new pump station that will increase the supply to the southern region of eThekwini.
This restriction is for the period of 36 hours starting from 7th November to 8 th November 2010. Residents are urged to use water sparingly.
Areas that may experience water interruption will be assisted with water tankers to our best ability.
This shut will affect the following areas:
Isipingo Hills, Isipingo Rail, Isipingo Beach, Lotus Park, Athlone park, Malabar Hills, Lewis Drive, Garden Lots, Launceston, Adams Mission area, Malakazi, Iziko, Emasomini, Ezimangweni, Doon Heights,  Kwamakutha, Ezimbokodweni, Amanzimtoti, Winklespruit, Warner Beach, Lovu, Illovu, Panaroma park, Umgababa, Umnini, Amagcino, Meghabeni, Mgobozini, Craigeburn, Umkomaas, Clansthal.
EThekwini Water and Sanitation Unit would like to emphasise that water will be available during this period, but people need to use the water wisely during this period. . There are different ways one could reduce water demands.

1. Shower instead of having a bath
2. Do not wash cars
3. Do not water the gardens.
4. Do not fill the swimming pool.
5 If possible avoid washing clothes for Sunday.
As major supply line that feeds all our reservoirs in Southern region will be closed, the demand will need to be managed. Water will be available as the reservoirs do have storage of atleast 24 hrs but, the available water will need to be managed for 36 hrs.
Schools and industries that are closed on a Sunday should not be affected, but on Monday during the recovery period they are urged not to waste water.
