Mayor to Legalise Businesses in the Phoenix, Inanda, Ntuzuma and Kwamashu Area
 
In a bid to provide continued support to the small business sector, eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, accompanied by KwaZulu-Natal Premier Willies Mchunu and MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Sihle Zikalala, will tomorrow, 12 July, visit the Phoenix, Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu (PINK) area to hand over business licences to 391 small business owners who have applied for trading permits.
 
Members of the media are invited to attend the event which will start with the official opening of the Cornubia Retail Facility in Cornubia before proceeding to the KwaMashu L Community Hall for the handover ceremony of the licenses to business owners.
 
The initiative aims to address economic challenges experienced in townships and to prevent threats against foreign nationals who own spaza shops in township areas. This engagement will ensure that shops operating in the PINK area are legalised whether they are owned by foreign nationals or locals.
