For Immediate Release

Mayor Nxumalo Reaches Out To Residents Through The Khumbulekhaya Programme

Developing our communities and going beyond their expectations remains eThekwini Municipality’s key focus.

To demonstrate our commitment to serving the needs of our citizens, Mayor James Nxumalo will be hosting the 4th Annual Khumbulekhaya Christmas programme for the community of Intshanga and surrounding areas at KwaNdokweni Sport Field next week.

On Monday, 14 December 2015, the focus will be on the elderly, where Nxumalo is expected to handover walking sticks, wheelchairs, reading glasses, blankets and food parcels.

The programme on Tuesday, 15 December 2015, will be focused on youth related matters. Various speakers are expected to empower young people and engage on issues such as youth unemployment, empowerment and development.

Through our “Back to Basics” programme and the hands-on approach we have adopted, the Municipality is intent on taking government to the people, thus establishing direct community engagements. There are various community outreach programmes whereby the Municipal leadership visit communities and outline the Municipality’s programmes and plans of alleviating poverty as well as discuss social issues.

Members of the media are invited to attend this event, which is hosted under the banner of the Mayoral Outreach Programme.
