Mayor Donates 1500 Litres of water to Schools

As the current drought continues to plague KwaZulu-Natal, the northern region in eThekwini has been the most affected.

To address this challenge, eThekwini Municipality together with the Al - Imdaad Foundation, a non-profit humanitarian aid relief organisation, will be donating 1 500 litres of water to various schools in Ward 58 in the north region.

The identified schools have previously had their schooling hours interrupted as children had to be sent home early due to the shortage of water in the area. The initiative to supply the schools with water is a relief measure and to ensure schooling is not adversely affected by the drought.

Each identified school will receive 375 litres of bottled water. The schools that will be benefitting include Waterloo Secondary School, Sibonginhlanhla Primary School, Waterloo Primary School and Seatides Secondary School.

The initiative to supply water to struggling schools is ongoing with more affected schools to be identified and assisted in the future.

Members of the media are invited to join Mayor James Nxumalo when he hands over the water to the identified schools.
