KwaMashu CRU Intervention Programme Launch

EThekwini Municipality in partnership with the Provincial Department of Safety and Liaison and other stakeholders will launch the Sakhubunye Programme at the KwaMashu Community Residential Units (formerly known as hostel).

The programme seeks to address the social challenges faced by residents of the KwaMashu Community Residential Units and to establish community structures that will serve as the link between the community and relevant government departments.

The day of the launch will include fun-filled activities, starting with a soccer match between KwaMashu Legends and KwaMashu South African Police Service. There will also be performances by local artists who will be given a platform to showcase their talent and entertain the crowd. The headline act is Avante, a local gospel group. Community leaders will also encourage peace and unity among members of the community.

The Sakhubunye Intervention Programme is an integrated approach by various stakeholders to deal with issues of crime and other social ills in the community.
