Gospel Star to be Crowned at the 5th Annual Gospel ID Competition Finale
 
Upcoming gospel artists from around the City will have their dreams come alive when they are crowned the 2017 Gospel Icons Discovery Competition winners. The prestigious grand finale of the competition is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 17 September 2017 at Ohlange Sports Ground, Inanda.
 
Approximately 36 finalists will sing their hearts out to impress judges; Malusi Mbokazi, Thulani Ga Ndlela and DJ Happygal. The competition which is divided into soloists, groups and odwinkidwinki (under 14 years) will see winners in each category walk away with R20 000 cash. Groups and soloists will also receive a full album deal with one of the leading recording companies in the City while odwinkidwinki receive a scholarship to be coached on a musical instrument of their choice at the Durban Music School.
 
The Gospel ID, as it is popularly known, is a talent search programme aimed at cultivating the talent of young gospel artists within the Municipal area. It helps them launch their gospel career and inspires the youth to reach for their dreams. They also receive mentorship and assistance on business matters related to the industry.
 
Members of the media are invited to come and witness the momentous occasion as eThekwini Municipality once again unleashes the abundant talent within our beautiful City.
 
The winners of this year’s competition will get the once-in-a lifetime opportunity to share the stage with established artists at the ESSENCE Festival Gospel All Star Concert on 01 October 2017 at the ICC.
