EThekwini to Host 3RD Social Cohesion Conference
EThekwini Municipality will host its third Social Cohesion Conference from 19 to 20 June 2017, under the theme: “Black History”.
The conference will provide an opportunity for experts and opinion makers in various fields to engage in robust dialogues about issues related to social cohesion and the role that can be played by each sector in building a socially cohesive City and country.
The first day of the conference will see Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi giving delegates his perspective on the nation’s history, identity and social cohesion. This will be followed by a discussion on the country’s political landscape and its impact in creating a non-racial, united, just and democratic society. The discussion will be led by political analyst, Professor Sipho Seete.
Other topics to be covered include the relevance and role of black liberation movements in today’s society and the importance of the education system in building and sustaining society’s moral fibre.
On the second, President of the South African Football Association (SAFA), Dr Danny Jordaan, will lead the discussion on the contributions made by the soccer fraternity in the fight against racial paradigm and providing a platform for the development of black athletes. The conference will also discuss whether there are instances where black soccer failed either because of structural or leadership reasons.
