EThekwini Municipality Recognises Its Employees At Long Service Awards

EThekwini Municipality today, 6 November 2015, honoured the decades of dedicated service of hardworking employees who have served for 25 and 40 years respectively.

The employees, who have dedicated their lives to the service of the Municipality, were honoured at a Long Service Awards Function at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre.

Over 310 employees were honoured at the event for their years of service and contribution to ensure that the Municipality runs efficiently.

EThekwini Speaker Cllr Logie Naidoo said: “This is the 11th eThekwini Municipality Long Service Awards. The employees have all contributed towards the Municipality winning a plethora of awards in recognition of our efforts of delivering basic services to our communities. These awards include the Govan Mbeki Human Settlements Awards and the PMR Africa KZN Province Business Excellence Awards 2015, to mention a few,” he said.

Naidoo said the employees efforts were appreciated especially those who went the extra mile in their line of duty. 

“Through these awards, we aim to recognise heroes and heroines of our Municipality, while encouraging other employees to remain motivated and dedicated to serving the people of eThekwini,” he said.

Deputy City Manager of Corporate and Human Resources Cluster, Dumisile Nene said: “We appreciate your continued service. Your commitment and dedication has gone a long way in further developing our communities and improving the quality of life of our residents.”
