EThekwini Municipality Embarks on a Relentless Campaign of Inculcating Voracious Reading In The City

Under the banner of the One City One Book Campaign, the Libraries and Heritage Department will host a seminar titled, “Inter-racial Adoption, an Act of Love”.

The seminar will preach the gospel of reading and will feature parents and adopted individuals who have been exposed to inter-racial adoption. They will among others share their experiences and deliberate on effective strategies to keep these families intact.

Author, Ms Rosie Motene will facilitate the discussions. Motene recently published a book titled, “Reclaiming the Soil”. In her book she gives an account of her struggles as a young black child raised by a Jewish family in Johannesburg.

The One City One Book campaign is an effort by the Municipality to promote the culture of reading and increase the level of literacy in Durban. Citizens of eThekwini are encouraged to read the chosen book for a period of a year and subsequently engage with the content and message of the book.

The book chosen for 2018/2019 is Reclaiming the Soil by Rosie Motene.

Members of the media are cordially invited to attend and report on this seminar.
