EThekwini Celebrates UNESCO City OF Literature Status
 
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recently named Durban the UNESCO City of Literature and is the first African City to receive this prestigious status.
 
This accolade does not only affirm the City’s commitment to promoting arts, culture and literacy but places Durban firmly on the map as a world-class city. To celebrate this milestone and achievement, Mayor Zandile Gumede will host a celebratory event.
 
Members of the media are invited to be part of the celebration where they will be updated on the City’s plans to drive the literacy and arts programmes forward.
