Disability Awareness on the Move
About 400 people with disabilities will participate in a march on Wednesday 29 November from the corner of Dr Pixley KaSeme and Dorothy Nyembe streets to commemorate Disability Awareness Month.
EThekwini Municipality Mayor, Zandile Gumede, will lead the march which is themed, “People With Disability On The Move.”
Disability Awareness month is commemorated internationally from 3 November to 3 December, annually. The month long campaign provides an opportunity to mobilise action to achieve the goal of full and equal enjoyment of human rights and participation in society by persons with disabilities.
As a caring City, the Mayor will also use the event to promote the rights of persons with disabilities and encourage the public to support persons with disabilities.
Members of the media are invited to attend the Disability Awareness Walk. The details are as follow:
