City Hosts Youth Dialogue to Tackle Substance Abuse, Teenage Pregnancy and Sexual Abuse

EThekwini Municipality’s Library and Heritage Department, in partnership with various Non-Government Organisations, will host a youth dialogue seminar to create a platform for young people to engage on issues affecting them, such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and sexual abuse.

The dialogue is a result of ongoing consultations that the Youth Desk of Hambanathi has had with various teenagers in the area about issues they are faced with. The most prevalent issues identified were drug abuse, teenage pregnancy and sexual abuse.

Speakers at the seminar will include representatives from Love Life, Tongaat Child Welfare, KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development and KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health. There will also be a testimonial from Mbuso Dlamini, a recovering drug addict.
