City Health Officials Investigating Reports of Dead Fish

EThekwini Municipality has sent its team of experts from the Clairwood office to investigate reports of dead fish on the lagoon in Prospecton, south of the City.

We received reports late on Wednesday night and a team from the Environmental Health Unit was immediately dispatched to the scene.

The cause of the fish kill is unknown at this stage but City Health officials would like to appeal to the public not to collect the fish for consumption as it poses a serious health risk.

Reports that locals have been picking the dead fish are worrying and we strongly advise that anyone who has collected the dead fish must not to eat it.

The public is also warned not to buy suspicious fish being sold by random traders in the area. City officials are in the area educating people against picking up dead fish. In addition, Durban Solid Waste is also in the area to clean up.
